Ode to A Delightful Young Man

Went on FB earlier. Ex very good friend of mine...from the mid 90s...i
met her two sons back then...talked with them a lot...

i knew how Mom loved
her two sons...shaped them

...held them high in expectations...which
they fulfilled for the most part...

really delightful young men

...about somewhere say
14 or 15 years ago...maybe more...in Kmart i was verbally jacked up by the oldest son...

Mr. Bill man what happened between you and Mom, he asked...i knew his Mom had gotten married...why didn't you guys get married he asked...
and then talked to me about why it should have happened...

what he said to me was a gift...

the conversation...need i say i was stunned and happy by what this young man was saying to me

...this young man i knew in his mid to late teens early 20s...now standing with his two young children in tow...talking to me in Kmart...i remember it so well...

and i remember a prior chance meeting near my job site...full of life was he...younger man...brimming at the top with ambition and hope...and able to articulate it

...i remember how powerful he appeared to me...being one...me...who thinks he's pretty powerful himself...i could feel his power...his ambition

...i was proud...i remember...to stand there with him on the corner for about 25 minutes

...just talking...listening... to the younger man tell me what he's up to, planning to be up to, and doing right now

...i was the older man...he the younger man...i listened to him like older men listened to me

...it is a gift an older man can give a younger man...the gift of being listened to...it is a gift a younger man gives an older man...the gift of being heard...

today...i see on FB that the younger man has  passed on...

God stand the Mom in the emotional resilience...of her husband, son and family...in an understanding beyond understanding

...that the mighty Light of her son...opens our own path to a seeing

...that we permission ourselves to receive our Good.

QUICK! HIDE THE PHONE!!

QUICK!! HIDE THE PHONE!!!
written by bill curtis

What I don't know is EVerRy thing about Obama.  What I do know is that EveRY politician does something bad that I do not know about. That's the 2 party state. Then we switch.

What I do know is that most successful politicians can control our perception of a situation or condition in our own city, suburb or town.  A good politician can make you think that progress is happening in your city but in your immediate reality you see no progress. They can make you think progress is happening and ain't any progress happening at all. But you feel good, inspired even.

OK. Now. Obama. And President Trump. HIDE THE PHONE What I find extremely difficult to believe is that Obama would wiretap Trump. Obama can and did send drones to kill people? Yes! Make me feel good? Yes! But wiretap Trump? Ahhuuummm? No!!!

Personally, I'm on tax-watch. I'm watching to see President Trump's tax returns. And I want someone on his staff to be on phone-watch. Hide the thing. Padlock it!!! Maybe not. Then he'd tweet with the nuclear codes. Oops!

POST RACIAL SOCIETY?

 POST RACIAL SOCIETY?
written by Bill Curtis/ 21st Century Productions

When Obama was President Obama, a major criticism of him was that he was a "divider". Another good one was this: folk thought that he would "bring us together", which frankly I thought was Not something that a black President could do.
A white President could do that. He'd need to really have frank talks with the whites in the country, particularly those in small towns and hamlets away from civilization in major population belts along the southern, eastern and western coasts and near the Great Lakes.

Forget the American origin myths. In 1776 the country was set up divided: 1) Rich, white male and free. 2) Wage relentless war against and exterminate the Indian Nations. Get free land, timber, minerals and other free stuff. Kill enough Indians, you get to keep your free land, timber, minerals and other free stuff. Perfect wealth formula for whites.
3) Welcome dirt poor whites
from Europe. Give them free land. Have them kill Indians. 4) Enslave free Africans to make whites rich. Pass laws against their descendants.

Please tell me! Why's the black guy given mission impossible to save whites?  8 years of Obama could not undo such a pathology of cruelty, conquest and legislative and economic apartheid. As my favorite Pentecostal-Apostolic-Holiness Auntie used to say-
"Lordy, Lordy!" -- to clear the air of something ridiculous that I would say.

And quite frankly, again, the flawed Founders set up the nation to divide people.

Just bizarre ideas. 3/5s of a man? How do people "rationalize" such a bizarre idea? Theft of Indian land, mineral and timber wealth. Fake sense of white superiority brainwashed into whites. Structural white privilege. 8 years of Obama could...not...fix...that. No way.

The American pathological thought process would need to be on the couch for about 20 years to unpack that pathology, and/or to come to terms with the
reparations required to repair the damage caused. Possibly see the evil of their ways? Perhaps have a come to Jesus moment! Or to enlightenment like Buddha under the Bodhi tree! Or beg themselves for forgiveness!

Without the couch-work, the US will stagger pathologically towards its 250th birthday in 2026. Or its 406th year since free Africans were enslaved at Virginia colony in 1620.

Now we have President Trump in 2017.

The US goes from the black guy to the really white white guy. And super rich.
And never elected to anything. AND his cabinet picks are of the same stripe. White white. Super rich. And "anti" whatever the policies of the US government had been for the past 40 years. It's as if Al Capone busted into Grandma's pantry and turned the pantry into a whisky drinking den for super rich gangsters.

And as for President Obama? His policies have been tarred and feathered and only waiting for the kerosene splash and the flick of a match from team Trump, then comes the rising animal roar of a mob transfixed by the flicker and the smell of heat and fire and their own smugness that, at any cost, even to spite our faces by cutting off our noses, we take our country back. Pray tell, who exactly is going to allow the 18th century barbarism back into the 21st?

That was really barbaric stuff in the 19th and 20th centuries. It's really barbaric stuff in the 21st century. But this time...there is You...

Can I get a shout out?

JIBBERSHIT
JIBBERSHIT
written by Bill Curtis / 2st Century Productions
Was listening to WKYS outta DC this afternoon driving home. In the car by myself...I was embarrassed at that 100% jibbershit on the radio. The rap made no sense. It was Jibbershit. DJ said, I think, the Jibbershitter group were the amigos. I realized so deeply the importance of self-affirming the best of yourself, our culture (if you are "aware") and the Good that you are as a divine being. I had to remember --
BLACK LIVES MATTER -- 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To me. Not just when cops shoot. BLACK LIVES MATTER on all fronts. Specifically on our personal way of behaving, listening and talking to ourselves and to each other. Does BLACK LIVES MATTER to yourself? Then, let your friends know that that is the time you are on now. 24/7. I think I'll take that on first with me. More.

Self or Not To Discover More "Self"?
written by Bill Curtis/ 21st Century Productions

Everybody has friends. And if not friends, at least the best of
friends with our "self". The  "self" that we know. Or "think" we know.

Or "feel" that we know. You know, because most folk "think" with their "feelings". I know humans like that. Yes I do!

The self we are right now is the only "self" that you or I have. OR "know".  Until we master our current self. That's when we become another "self". That self has been waiting for us to come along and give it a big welcome hug. Maybe a real loving first kiss goodbye. (If you know how to kiss. LOL)

 Then, that
new self looks in the side mirror and sees that prior self verrrrrry slowly turning to vapor, then we say, wow, I've grown. What the heck was I doing? As much as my old self knew how to do.

The seeing REEALLY deserves a celebration. But likely not the kind of celebration that you did when you
were the "other self", you know, the one verrrrrrry slowly turning to vapor in your side view mirror.

Keep your eyes on the road. Coming at you: YOU.

When we are children, and we have a problem with someone, we get angry. For whatever reason, that anger pushes the problem away; we get the result we want. It happens a second time – we react with anger – and now we know if we get angry we push the
problem away. Then we practice and practice, until we become masters of anger.

"TV, The Box, Dope, Brain Killer, Passive Mind Control Entertainment Entangling Octopus That I Let In My House. YIKES!"

I made a decision. Not to get a TV. Yet! But Trump fills the news so dangerously my thought was that TV would let me keep up with his blitz at the detail of "tweet".
Instead I decided to do something I said I would NeVer do. I
subscribed to a local paper. Online. Just to keep up with this mess.
I'm gonna need a TV, though, like within a year. So I can watch the war provoked by the Trump administration. Or to watch the impeachment proceeding. By the summer of 2018. By then or before.

Caligula comes to America?

Sort of...well actually a lot of, I'm a fan of history. I love African history -- Kemet, Ashanti, Zulu and Kongo Kingdom.

I'm intrigued by Northern Euro-western history
-- barbarian Britons, German and Frankish tribes.

But I am fascinated by Southern European Roman history and the technological influence that more advanced civilizations on the southern rim of the Mediterranean and below had on Roman "civilization". Rome fascinates me, also, because it is Rome that the flawed 13 founding colonies of the US mimicked. Flawed forever from inception with slavery enshrined in the flowery big-talk of its founding documents. (So sad, as Trump would say. Maybe Don will make a deal and send me a check.)

History. Rome. 13 Colonies. Trump. Caligula.

Let me check my calendar. January 20th. Feb. 4th. Two weeks and 1 day since Trump became President Trump. 15 days. But it feels like a long slow slough through 2 feet of snow in a blizzard.

National dialogue by "tweets". Cancelled meetings with Mexico. Arguments with Australia, of all places. New syllogisms - alternative facts - enter the Euro-American lexicon.

It all seems, or is, I mean, Hey! I wanna give the Executive branch the benefit of the doubt, but... the first 15 days seem a bigley bizarre. Even impolite. Lacks decorum. Presidential courtesy.

Caligula's historic reputation depicts him as erratic, impulsive. insecure, perverse and cruel. During the primary election campaign, I pegged Donald Trump
as the Caligula of the campaign. The man was a rocket-head, any and everything would blast out his mouth.

The first 15 days of his presidency violates the illusion of the Principate. Every good Republic needs Principate. Rome taught the flawed Foundling Fathers Principate's importance to keep the White dirt poor in an illusion of power. Enslaved people were wide awake.

Principate allows the Citizenry the "opportunity" to participate in government but not dominate. It's an illusion, a pleasant fiction much needed in a civilization that has abundance and a population that can read like we are doing right now. (Thanks!! Much appreciated. LOL)

In the US form of Republic, the Executive (President), the Legislative (US Senators and House of Representatives) and the Judicial branch (Judges) are the Principate. These are the 3 legs that hold up the illusion of the Republic. Upon that stool sits, figuratively, the Citizens of the Republic, which includes lil' ol' me and you. Butt over will'ya!! Give me some room please

According to Wikipedia, "The Principate is characterised by the reign of a single emperor (princeps) and an effort on the part of the early emperors, at least, to preserve the illusion of the formal continuance, in some aspects, of the Roman Republic."

To understand the US, an understanding of Roman rule methodology is revealing. Otherwise, what you are seeing, you might think is real. President Trump's first 15 days in office locates him in a urine contest with the Judicial branch, the Legislative branch and with the citizenry of the Republic. My goodness!!! And it's only 15 days!!! Has Caligula come to America?  --Bill Curtis / 21st Century Productions

Listening to Church Radio

Before you draw your own speculative conclusions, let me let you in on something:

Yes, I do have a problem with the Preacher Class "leading" the Black Church.

I think it lacks vision/courage/imagination. And I think that, in its current orientation, the Black Church is an institutional subtraction of power in the development of collective Black economic power in a hyper capitalist civilization like my country, the United States of America.

I also think Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. would have a problem with the present day Preacher Class and their money making religious enterprises.

So... I'm listening to church radio. In Baltimore. One "sermon" was about being born with purpose, the other about being blessed. The latter sermon covered all ground -- blessed if you got, blessed if you don't got. A dozy of spiritual malpractice.

I was raised in the church in the Sixties.
Say...from about 1963 when Mom died on up to the early 1970s when I started smelling myself, you know, as a teenager and stopped going. Those oh-so-smart-TEENagers!!

I have no problem with God. God is ever present in you, in me, in all things, and God is expressed everywhere all-in-all. Next to mine, your ideas of God may and likely are more restrictive and controlling like the sleight-of-hand of the Euro-Western world:
Dr John Henrik Clarke, Master Teacher
Missionary style. Imposition. Inquisition. Nullification. Right at all cost.

But I love what I call 'Big Choir' gospel music or any Gospel music with harmony and the substance of the resilience (FC Barnes & Janice Brown) of faith. Or just traditional Gospel, like the Gospel Caravans.

In the Sixties, Black folk where contained in Baltimore City and just moving into areas depopulated of Whites. Black pockets were in the counties -- I heard of some places like Winters Lane and on the other side of town, an area called Wilson Park. And some place called Turners' Station.

My first time as a kid on Garrison Blvd was when the Angelic Voices sang at a church there. Church boy that I was, I sang on the choir. So green and lush and sunny was the day and I remember how beautiful Garrison Blvd looked to me. The houses, big. The boulevard, broad. The trees, magnificent. Shall I say it? Compared to my neighborhood of neat working class row houses, super sparkly marble steps and street gutters cleaned daily by neighbors, Garrison Blvd (Walbrook Junction) was another planet.

Over the past 20 to 40 years, Blacks migrated to the greener areas of Baltimore City. Whites loaded up the pioneer wagons and moved to the suburbs. Blacks moved to the suburbs. Whites loaded up and moved to the outer burgs. But Black Churches in the city did not migrate with their, now, commuter congregations.

When I went to church growing up, I walked about 6 blocks through the neighborhood to get there. My friends in the neighborhood walked, too. (We never called our neighborhood "the hood", today's other-worldly dark nefarious zip codes of crime, death, shootings, diabetes, bad health, bad food, false hair, no belts, frivolous spending and no Black owned stores.) Oops! Did I say that!?

Listening to church radio Sunday night I felt so sorry for people. Those Preachers say just enough to keep people dependent on them. First 22 minutes of the "sermon" was a verbally hypnotic retelling of a Bible story. Milk toast. Maybe 5 minutes of meat. Something concrete. Then 5 minutes to wrap it up with the same religious crescendos I heard as a child in the Sixties at Shiloh CC Church, located Catherine and Lombard Streets, Baltimore, MD. Rev. George C. Baynard would be ashamed of his colleagues for keeping people hostage to "hope" in the 21st century.

People Actually believe God is somewhere "outside" of themselves, in heaven, looking down on them and doling out mercy like fickle Zeus or Aphrodite (or was it Athena?) doling out favorable outcomes  to the Greeks waging war against Troy.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

And now...we are in the era of Trump and the nullification of Dr. King's vision of democracy.
Black Americans will need more than milk toast sermons to restore their rightful place. Cunning people are plotting after Black American dollars, that massive immature 1.2 trillion dollar Black American money pie befuddled grotesquely by integration over the past 40 years. That's a lot of confused dollars.

Gently Intellectual Virgin says, milk toast is no defense in a hyper capitalistic civilization whose pathological DNA birth construct is slavery and the nullification of Black People. And their nascent wealth. And any ideas of self-determination to decide to organize to help them selves, like, you know, for real for real.

You know this is bad. Like bad as in bad B A D BAD. Like bad, like a very very VERY bad B-grade science fiction movie bad.
James Brown
Just plain bad. So bad, hurts your eyes to watch. Your Brain saying to your Eyes, put on the
James Brown "I can't stand it." It's so bad.

Sound the alarm!!  Wanted: New Heroes and Sheroes needed. Early 20s to early 30s. Fearless. Conscious. Well read. Not burdened with too much debt. Lovers of Black people.

The new Heroes and Sheroes are the ones who will challenge this current leadership gang and its plethora of contradictions such that a blind man could see that something is quite-not-right here. Quite...Not...Right. Young and Fearless come forth. --Bill Curtis / 21st Century Productions

The point here, if there is a point (particularly if you need a point), is this about this blog: we are going for a ride.  Kind of like losing your virginity in the way of thinking.

Surely it is a secret that we don't think. We react. We stress. We run around paying bills. Particularly Americans. Always busy. Here and there, ruining to and fro, and getting absolutely nowhere.  Kind of like a pet hamster running on that turning thing.

This blog, though, will live up to its name - Intellectual Virgin. At times we will be so far out the box that the box gets reconstructed. Just to contain the virgin lines of reasoning presented here. Hey now!! I take my mind quite seriously.

Subscribe. Get on the ride with Intellectual Virgin.
